Looking for UF Recommendations

I'm easing back into my blogging after a case of the blogging blues and haven't purchased a lot of Urban Fantasy this year. I am hoping my fellow UF  fans and colleagues could share their recommendations for some of their favourite/best reads of 2012.  I'd be interested in hearing favs for established authors and especially the best of the writers that have broken into the genre this year.

What's your favourite reads of 2012?

  2. Have missed your blogging. Welcome back. My favorite Urban Fantasy this year has been The Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson. The first is Royal Street the second River Road. Both published in 2012. New Orleans, the undead, wizards, Katrina, great reads.

  3. Seanan McGuire's DISCOUNT ARMAGEDDON.

    1. I'll second that rec. Ignore the chick-lit(ish) cover, there's a reason for the art and this is definitely UF.

      Welcome back!

  4. Thanks for the link Abigail. Didn't think anyone would have their Best of lists out yet. I'll be over to check it out.

Roger thanks for the kind words. I've missed it too but needed to recharge. Your suggestions sound intriguing. Will check them out.

Tez sounds great. I actually got that in the mail recently so will have to add to my current reading list!

    THANKS GANG!

  5. I just got done reading "Dead Things" by Stephen Blackmoore (a 2013 release) and it made me think I need to read his first book "City of the Lost." I heard good things about his first book and, judging by his second book, he's definitely worth checking out.

    2. I have to admit that I read Blackmoore’s City of the Lost and was just amazed by this guy’s writing too. But the book that really did it for me this past year is newcomer Aida Brassington’s Between Seasons. I did a review of it ou our review site Best Fantasy Stories if anyone is looking for more info. It’s a kinda urban fantasy ghost story, hard to explain but impossible to forget. The review is here http://bestfantasystories.com/new-fantasy-books-between-seasons/ for anyone who is interested.

  7. I liked the Benedict Jacka urban fantasy series--Fated, Cursed and Taken. They are about a Diviner named Alex Versus. I believe all three books were released this year. The next is due next year sometime.

For bloggers comments are like water to a man (or woman) wandering in the desert. A precious commodity. I love to hear from everyone and do my best to respond to every post.
