Cover Art - "Pale Demon" by Kim Harrison

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere or even if it is the final version, but here is the cover to Pale Demon, the next book in Kim Harrison's Hollows series. It releases February 22, 2011. As many of you know this is one of my favourite series and you can read a post I did about the series over at VampChix.

Condemned to death for black magic and shunned, Rachel Morgan has three days to somehow get to the annual witches convention in San Francisco and clear her name. If she fails, the only way she can escape death is to live in the demonic ever after . . . for ever after.

Banned from the flight lists, Rachel teams up with elven tycoon Trent Kalamack, headed for the West Coast for her own mysterious business. But Rachel isn’t the only passanger along for the ride. Can a witch, an elf, a living vampire, and a pixy in one car survive for over 2,300 miles? And that’s not counting the assassin on their tail.

A fearsome demon walks the sunlight, freed after centuries of torment to slay the innocent and devour souls. But his ultimate prey is Rachel Morgan. While the powerful witch with nerves of steel will do whatever it takes to stay alive, even embracing her own demonic nature may not be enough to save her.

  1. Wow. I'm a little embarrassed by the fact that I knew nothing about this book. Title.. release date. Especially since I so do love this series. :( *blushes* Thanks for the heads up and the cover.

As for the cover, heh. Not a favorite. Lets hope this isn't the final.

  2. That cover is pretty intense. It's a departure from the others but, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. ;)

  3. It's great to have you back!

I missed this one, the cover is OK. I left the previous book on my shelf so I can read two at a time so I skipped the summary. The cover looks like she is up to no good-as expected.

  4. Ohhh, I read the blurb before I read Black Magic Sanctions...oh well.

The book sounds great, and I love the cover - looks like she's playing with the power.

  5. I love this series and can not wait for this one. Thanks for sharing.

Cover is different and looks cool.

  6. Another February release, huh? What a bummer that we must wait so long.

Wow, I just read the blurb, and it says they're going on a road trip?? How awesome will that be?! It's funny how that plot device has been done to death in film, but there aren't all that many novels with road trips. I suppose that's why it's appealing to me so much.

I like the cover. It's screaming FANTASY rather than SEXY, which is accurate for the series.

  7. I love this series, and I love the cover. Rachel has evolved and I think this cover shows that off really well.

  8. KittNLuv the cover seems to be a bit of a departure but I can forgive most anything for a new Hollows book.

Jen D you're welcome. February can't come too soon.

Thanks Elie ! I cannot believe you have the self control to let a Hollows book sit on your shelf unread. Amazing.

    Tiah well said.

Mardel I think a road trip book will be terrific fun.

    Raine you're welcome.

Rebecca not sure from the cover but I think Rachel is in the Everafter. Whenever she gets away from Cincinnati she gets out of her comfort zone and sh*t happens, but of course that usually happens regardless of where she is. LOL.

  9. Thanks for the sneak of the cover! This series is also one of my favorites out there. I am team Trent, but from what Kim has been saying that won't happen, but everyone should be getting a HEA ending.

  10. I'm curious about this one. It sounds like it will either be the end of the series or the beginning of a new chapter for Rachel.

  11. Hi Doug!

I haven't seen the cover or read the blurb before.... hot damn, I want to read it!! LOL

    Glad your back, where
else am I going to discover the newest releases?? (though February is a looong time away..can't wait!!)

    Dottie :)

  12. Sharon it would be good to see a HEA for everyone. I've always thought the strongest storyline was the Rachel/Ivy one. Trent joins them on a road trip so who knows what will happen.

Ladytink I think this is number 8/9? and I believe she has said she expects it can easily go 12 or 13 books before she winds it down. Personally I hope she writes the series until she is an old lady.

Dottie thanks for the kind words... they're really appreciated.

  13. This book is number 9. KH said the road trip wouldn't happen until book 10; I wonder what happened to change that. Apparently there's something big that happens between Trent and Rachel.

The cover isn't a fav. but it's not bad. It's just different and kinda looks unfinished, but like you said "I can forgive most anything for a new Hollows book" LOL
