Giveaway - "Black Magic Sanction" by Kim Harrison

Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison releases February 23 and I have two (2) copies to giveaway to some very lucky commenters. A new book in The Hollows/Rachel Morgan series is always an event especially as we only get one book per year (sigh). Black Magic Sanction is #8 in the series. You can read a Chapter 1 excerpt on Kim's website. Thanks to Harper Collins/EOS for the promotion.

To enter tell us which Kim Harrison Hollows book is your favourite wordplay on a Clint Eastwood movie title. Creative types can suggest new titles if they like. Full details at the end of the post.

Rachel Morgan has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter—and lived to tell the tale. But she's never faced off against her own kind . . . until now. Denounced and shunned for dealing with demons and black magic, her best hope is life imprisonment—at worst, a forced lobotomy and genetic slavery. Only her enemies are strong enough to help her win her freedom, but trust comes hard when it hinges on the unscrupulous tycoon Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief.

It takes a witch to catch a witch, but survival bears a heavy price.
For those that may not be familiar with the series and want to learn more,  I did a guest post over at VampChix earlier this year where I chatted about The Hollows series. I also previously reviewed the last book in the series White Witch, Black Curse for those interested.

  8. My favorite has to be The Outlaw Demon Wails, if only because my dad said, "Hey, that's a play on a Clint Eastwood movie!" Probably the only time Dad could relate to urban fantasy... Kim Harrison, bringing families together since 2004.

  10. Definitely The Outlaw Demon Wails and when I saw that Eastwood did a movie called The Outlaw Josey Wales, I first thought it said The Outlaw Jersey Wales, don't ask but it seemed HILARIOUS to me!

    This is like a tongue-twister!

  13. I think all the titles are great, The Outlaw Demon Wails though is superb but the one that hooked me was Dead Witch Walking.

It cracked me up when I found the first three books and instantly realized they were a play on Clint Eastwood titles.

I just love Kim's books and believe Rachel to be one of the most complex characters of the genre, not too mention the series is filled with great characters, arcs and twists I never seen coming, and the drama just keeps going.

  29. Facepalm! I had never noticed that. I always thought the Good, the Bad and the Undead sounded like that movie title but my brain went no further!

I really like a Fistful of Charms but I think my favorite is probably the Outlaw Demon Wails. I've always thought that one has a nice ring to it.

Another one could be "Play Dead for Me" instead of "Play Misty for Me".

  30. Ooooh, I love Kim Harrison! I guess my favorite title would be the first, Dead Witch Walking, particularly since it fits in so well to the plot.. And I'm afraid I don't know enough Clint Eastwood titles to suggest another one. But thanks for the terrific giveaway!

This is my favorite series! I love them all, but the Dollar Trilogy is my favorite, book 5, For a Few Demons More stole, broke, then stomped on my heart. I loved White Witch, Black Curse for providing an end to Kisten story.

As for up and coming play on Eastwood movie titles...

Trilogy: The Demon With No Name

    Where Demons Dare
    Paint Your Demon Dead
    Million Dollar Demon

    Trilogy: Dirty Dead Series

    The Undead Pool
    Blood Cursed
    Play Undead For Me

  46. My favourite Kim Harrison Clint Eastwood title is the original Dead Witch walking. It was so fitting to the story and When over at Kim's official site, I asked her about the play on words, basically she's just a big Clint Eastwood fan and I can see Some of his character's humours in the books. If I had to title her next book i'd either go for true Witch instead of True Crime or Al Torino instead of Gran Turino featuring Al the demon

  105. For me it's between "Every Which Way but Dead" or "The Good, the Bad, and the Undead".

I blogged about your giveaway here: http://razloversbookblog2.blogspot.com/2010/02/kim-harrison-black-magic-sanction.html

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  106. I probably won't win this contest with an entry at this late date, but I loved the title The good, the bad, and the undead. I loved it because I actually got the reference and it made me laugh.

  108. For A Few Demons More. When I saw the title I thought of Clint Eastwood. Also Every Which Way But Dead.. All are so funny when you think of them. Thanks for great contest.

Please enter me in the contest.

For bloggers comments are like water to a man (or woman) wandering in the desert. A precious commodity. I love to hear from everyone and do my best to respond to every post.
