Cover Art - "Love Sucks" by Melissa Francis

While traipsing here and there I came across the cover for Love Sucks by Melissa Francis which is the sequel to Bite Me!. This young adult novel is due for release in August. I'm wondering about the look of the girl/dress here which is reminiscent of something from the 50's or 60's. What do you think?

UPDATE: Melissa Francis advises me that this is close, but not the final cover.

A sexy star-crossed romance with bite, Love Sucks! continues the story of southern teen vampire AJ Ashe.

AJ Ashe may have gotten rid of her vampire stalker and her evil ex-teacher, but things are hardly back to normal. For one thing, she still has to maintain a strict look-but-don’t-touch policy with Ryan, her ex-boyfriend-turned-stepbrother. For another, she has to learn to control her vampire superpowers—which means a few dates with Lex, mind-reading professional vampire trainer and too-sexy-for-his-own-good bad boy. Oh, and she happens to be the key to her father’s plans to take over the world…and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

All this and she’s still got to plan the prom. Being a teenager is tough, but being a teenage vampire just plain sucks!

  1. I've got to nominate this for one of those book cover lookalike posts that I see all over the place. I just saw three like this today alone!

    I like the dress though.

  2. hey! just an FYI, this isn't the final cover, as it hasn't been released yet. This is one from an online catalogue. The final cover image is very close, but not quite the same. :) I was shocked when I saw this posted!!! LOL

  4. nah, it's no problem if you'll repost the new. They've moved the bite marks to be in a more believable spot and they've made them look more real. It's pretty close to the same otherwise. Most people won't notice the difference.

  5. Mel happy to post the revised cover as soon as it appears. Makes sense that the bite marks should be vertical not horizontal.
