URBAN FANTASY and PARANORMAL ROMANCE
From Publishers Weekly - Adair's conclusion to her paranormal romance trilogy that began with Night Fall and Night Secrets smoothly blends sensuality and espionage. As two covert T-FLAC (Terrorist Force Logistical Assault Command) agents—newbie Alexis Lexi Stone and seasoned veteran Alexander Stone (no relation)—travel the globe in search of those responsible for a series of bombings, the pair must contend with the attraction that threatens to destroy the professionalism of their relationship. Complicating the mission for Lexi are orders from her superiors to kill Alex if, as they suspect, Alex is a rogue operative. Meanwhile, Alex, who frequently teleports from one location to another, has to deal with deadly doppelgängers who have a tendency to disintegrate into soot. The confusing similarity of the protagonists' names provides some comic relief from the thriller action and hot sex.

From Publishers Weekly - Culture clashes resound through this multi-layered coming-of-age tale from fantasist Baker (The Anvil of the World). Shaped in movements like a verbal symphony, the novel follows half-demon foundling Gard from a pastoral childhood punctuated with vicious raids by the savage Riders. Gard's willingness to kill in self-defense leads to a career as gladiator and sex slave under the insatiable Lady Pirihine and his training as a powerful mage, all contrasted with and eventually tied into the Gospel-like story of the Star, a John the Baptist–like figure, and the Child, a young girl who becomes a saint. Somehow this unusual and mostly charming mélange of basic fantasy motifs, fair and feral landscapes, and ironic characterizations ranging from gentle to raucous all comes together harmoniously, like extended variations on the theme that achieving adulthood is not for fainthearted sissies.

From Daryl Gregory, whose Pandemonium was one of the most exciting debut novels in memory, comes an astonishing work of soaring imaginative power that breaks new ground in contemporary fantasy. Switchcreek was a normal town in eastern Tennessee until a mysterious disease killed a third of its residents and mutated most of the rest into monstrous oddities. Then, as quickly and inexplicably as it had struck, the disease–dubbed Transcription Divergence Syndrome (TDS)–vanished, leaving behind a population divided into three new branches of humanity: giant gray-skinned argos, hairless seal-like betas, and grotesquely obese charlies. Paxton Abel Martin was fourteen when TDS struck, killing his mother, transforming his preacher father into a charlie, and changing one of his best friends, Jo Lynn, into a beta. But Pax was one of the few who didn’t change. He remained as normal as ever. At least on the outside. Having fled shortly after the pandemic, Pax now returns to Switchcreek fifteen years later, following the suicide of Jo Lynn. What he finds is a town seething with secrets, among which murder may well be numbered. But there are even darker–and far weirder–mysteries hiding below the surface that will threaten not only Pax’s future but the future of the whole human race.

While there are plenty of releases this month, not many of them are really nudging me to read, which is a shame. It's not too much of a problem though, there are some damned good books coming out in November to keep sci-fi fans happy!
Ender in Exile
by Orson Scott Card
by Orson Scott Card
Dubbed the sequel to Ender's Game, this is the sixth book written by Orson Scott Card featuring Ender, although this one does relate to events immediately following the first book. I've only recently got around to Ender's Game but I loved it so much I really am looking forward to this one!
by Marianne de Pierres

The third book in the Sentients of Orion series, Mirror Space is space opera supreme with so much going for it. The build up in books 1 and 2 has been great and now the pay off can start ready for the conclusion in book four. I'm reading this at the moment and can tell you that it's living up to expectations. For space opera with some strong characters and great plotting this series is one to read.
Diving into the Wreck
by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
This is one book that caught my eye the moment I saw it. Not only dopes it have a nice cover, the blurb is one that makes you want to read it, like all blurbs should. With spaceships, wrecks and secrets this is one that I plan on reading as soon as possible.
Halo: The Cole Protocol
by Tobias S. Buckell
by Tobias S. Buckell
I'm not a fan of the Halo games (I've never played one), but I am a fan of Tobias Buckell. His three novels to date (Crystal Rain, Ragamuffin and Sly Mongoose) were all excellent reads and for that fact alone I'll be getting stuck into this one.
