Reviewette - "Le Cirque de la Nuit" by Karen MacInerney

Anthology: The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance 2
Story: 3 of 25
Pages: 20

Le Cirque de la Nuit is a dark little tale about Bella, a circus trapeze and aerial acrobat performer. Bella dreams of becoming a solo performer to escape the confining routine with her less than desirable partner. An opportunity presents itself when another circus comes to town and Bella is given an opportunity to audition. Of course there is a price to be paid for joining Le Cirque de la Nuit. An interesting view of how easily we can discard our morality in pursuit of art. Some nicely sensuous passages, atmospheric and presented in an out of the ordinary setting.

Mammoth Rating: 4.0 TUSKS (of 5)

Karen MacInerney: Author of the Gray Whale Inn mystery series (the first of which, Murder on the Rocks, was nominated for an Agatha award for Best First Novel) and the Tales of an Urban Werewolf trilogy, featuring the reluctant werewolf Sophie Garou.
