Cover Art - "Through Stone and Sea" by Barb and J.C. Hendee

I came across the cover for Through Stone and Sea, the second book in the newest Noble Dead series by Barb and J.C. Hendee which will be out January 5, 2010. Too bad it releases a little late for the Christmas list. One of my favourite fantasy series; it features elves, fae and vampires combined with superlative world-building and a gripping story line. Apparently this particular series is planned as a trilogy completing eventually with Of Truth and Beasts.

Wynn journeys to the mountain stronghold of the dwarves in search of the "Stonewalkers," an unknown sect supposedly in possession of important ancient texts. But in her obsession to understand these writings, she will find more puzzles and questions buried in secrets old and new-along with an enemy she thought destroyed...

  2. This sounds like a trilogy I would really like. What is the first book called? I think I am going to have to look more into this. I really like the cover and the idea of all the creatures involved.

    Thanks!

  3. I'm looking forward to starting this series. The paperback for the first book will also be out in January. I was on the authors' site a few months ago, saw this artwork and almost went to get the first in hardback! Very tempting, the evil thing. I have to hold off though. My wrists hate a hardback with the force of a thousand suns.

  4. Shoot, meant to say, too - the first series seriously disappointed me in that, for some reason, I was expecting a resolution to the storyline. I thought Wynn's series started a new adventure. Hmmm, I think it was reading six long and involved books that made me think I would be getting a conclusion. Fancy that!

For all the ranty mcranting I could do on that one though, I really did like the series for the most part.

  5. Love the cover! Barb and J.C. Hendee are in my favorite authors box. Loved Noble Dead series 1 but I haven't started series 2 yet.

  6. Ladybug if you haven't read the original Noble Dead series you might enjoy it also beginning with Dhampir.

Hi Melissa the first book is In Shade & Shadow.

KMont well the timing is good. If you really like the paperback opf the first one it might tempt you to the hardback and you won't have to wait! We did get most of the answers we were seeking, just not the big origin story ones LOL.

Donna it is quite different from the earlier books, a little more introspective but if you liked series 1 I am sure you will like this. I reviewed the first one somewhere on the blog.

  7. Hi Doug,

JC and I just received an actual copy of the THOUGH STONE AND SEA. This is the first time we've seen it completely finished.

You've got a full paragraph quote on the back of the hard cover!
