Urban Fantasy Weekend Report

INTERVIEWS, NEWS and EVENTS AT SCIFIGUY.CA:

My next guest will be Terry Spear who will be here to talk about her most recent release, To Tempt the Wolf. Terry will be visiting on Wednesday, September 16.

Jocelynn Drake will be here the following week for an interview about Dawnbreaker, the highly anticipated third book in her Dark Days series. I’ve also added young adult fantasy author Kristin Cashore's blog tour for the Graceling companion novel Fire. Kristin will be visiting September 28 as part of a 15 stop event. And to round out the month author Jaime Rush (aka Tina Wainscott) will be visiting to talk about Out of the Darkness, the second book in her Offspring series on September 30.

CONTESTS:

Marjorie Liu  announced that the tentative title of the tenth Dirk & Steele novel (June 2010) is THE STARS BELOW.

Congratulations to Mario Acevedo who was crowned this last week as the 2009 Writer of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers

Jim Butcher reports that he will have Harry Dresden stories in P.N. Elrod's next supernatural anthology, Dark and Stormy Knights, and Gardner Dozois' anthology, Starcrossed Lovers.

Jacqueline Carey on her website says that readers have asked about a sequel to Santa Olivia. She says -
No definitive news yet, but I have a proposal in and I'm working on it. All I can say at this point is that turning Loup and Pilar loose on an unsuspecting world is a lot of fun! Hopefully, I'll have more to report next month.
Lynn Viehl at Paperback Writer hits 2000 posts today and Lynn has provided a list of her top 10 posts over the last 5 years. Definitely worth checking out.

Interestingly the cover for Betrayals has changed again from two earlier versions shown below. This newest is by far the best.


Brooke Reviews also had details on the new Anton Strout book Dead Matter, the 3rd Simon Canderous book. Releasing February 23, 2010.

  3. Heather I always love your interviews and essays on SFR. There are lots of cross-over readers that enjoy UF, PNR and SF & SFR (including me).

    Donna I think we are going to see lots more links and steampunk material coming out. It's been around for awhile but I think it will be one of the genres that busts out next year.
