Cover Art - "The Mage in Black" by Jaye Wells

Jaye Wells posted the US cover for The Mage in Black, the second Sabina Kane novel. I've reposted the UK version as well.  Not quite mirror images.
UK VERSION                                    US VERSION
Sabina Kane doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to family. After all, her own grandmother, leader of the vampire race, wants her dead. So when she arrives in New York to meet her mage relatives, the reunion puts the fun in dysfunctional.

Not only is mage culture completely bizarre, but everyone seems to think she’s some kind of ‘Chosen’ who’ll unite the dark races. Sabina doesn’t care who chose her, she’s not into destiny. But mages aren’t Sabina’s only problem. In New York’s Black Light District, she has run-ins with fighting demons, hostile werewolves and an opportunistic old flame.

Sabina thought she’d take a bite out of the Big Apple – but it looks like it wants to bite back.

  1. Odd that they are so similar. I actually don't like either one very much. :(

  3. I like the UK cover better than the US version. You can see the locket better and I don't care for the red block that highlights Jaye's name. Have you read the first title yet?

  4. elnice I reviewed Red-Headed Stepchild and I thought it was a really strong debut. Lots of story arc to continue so book 2 should be even better.

  5. Hi Doug! Just to clarify, the cover version you're listing as the UK cover is actually an early mock up of the cover. I actually haven't been notified which version they'll be using in the UK. Sorry for any confusion.

  8. I think the UK version is better. The US pose just looks a bit awkward to me.

  9. Lady_tink we'll have to wait and see what ends up on the shelves. I actually like the model positioning in the US cover but the red band seems out of place/clashes.
