The Worst SF&F Book Cover Event

Orbit Books has been running an event on their website to come up with the worst SF&F book cover ever. First they asked their readers to first come up with titles for the Worst Book Cover and they received 350 suggestions. Orbit has picked the final list which has gone to poll for final selection. Orbit's US art director will then "create" the cover.

Here are the 5 finalists for worst book title for worst cover:
  1. The Thing with the Glass Buttock
  2. Rise of the Fallen, Book Seven, The Pre-Antepenultimate Battle
  3. A Stain Upon The Vastness
  4. Across a Trembling Sea the Cyborg Fairies Dance
  5. An Old Dragon, A Dead Witch, and a Fat Guy: The Third Book of Stories that Go Nowhere.
Feel free to pick your favourite or suggest a new one here in an unofficial SciFiGuy poll, or of course you can go vote on the Orbit website.

  4. I like that one too KP, either that or Stain Upon the Vastness.

Wendy it reminds of the title from that Twilight Zone episode - Demon with a Glass Hand.

Oh yeah Vickie I will grab them as soon as they announce them. Should be quite a hoot.

  5. my favorite is number 5,

An Old Dragon, A Dead Witch, and a Fat Guy: The Third Book of Stories that Go Nowhere

How can you possibly go wrong with that title. I'd probably actually pick up a book with that title, at least check it out.

  6. Hi Doug!

What a list to choose from!

Across a Trembling Sea the Cyborg Fairies Dance seems to be a contradiction of terms. I don't quite know what a cyborg fairy would look like, lol!

The Glass Buttock sounds tricky too, the words glass and buttock definitely don't belong together.

    Dottie :)

  7. Mardel they are all terribly good terrible titles. LOL.

Dottie I hope the cover ends up as bad as the titles promise.
