Cover Art - "Nekropolis" by Tim Waggoner, "Dark Road Rising" by P.N. Elrod, "Boneshaker" by Cherie Priest

A few new covers for you today. First up is Dark Road Rising the 12th book in P.N. Elrod's Vampire Files series featuring vampire detective Jack Fleming, available September 1, 2009.

Next is Cherie Priest's steampunk novel Boneshaker which she describes on her blog as - "west coast steampunk Victoriana book with zombies, air ships, toxic gas clouds, mad scientists, dead folk heroes, secret criminal societies, and Bonus! extended deleted scenes from the Civil War” book;" Sounds like fun and besides it's Steampunk! Coming October 13, 2009.

And finally the cover for Nekropolis, an urban fantasy title announced from the new Angry Robot imprint last month available July 27, 2009. Zombie detective - gotta love it.

Jack Fleming's got his hands full with his wounded partner in the hospital and girlfriend Bobbi falling for the siren call of Hollywood. Jack is dodging the cops, two mob torpedoes out for his blood, running Gordy's operation, AND keeping track of a dangerously unstable vampire!

Meet Matt Richter. Private Eye. Zombie. His mean streets are the city of the dead, the shadowy realm known as Nekropolis. And in his first case, Richter must help a delectable vampire named Devona recover a legendary artifact known as the Dawnstone, before it's used to destroy the entire city. Pulp and proud, cracking wise like the reanimated corpse of Dashiell Hammett, Nekropolis is just the first of a trio of fabulous urban fantasies from the mighty Tim Waggoner.

  1. Damnit man! I have enough books on my TBR. :) Now I have to add more! I'm never going to get through my list.

  2. They all sound good, but I so want NEKROPOLIS! A zombie detective? I am SO there! :)

  3. Jackie my TBR pile is so out of control you can't imagine (well I guess you probably can). UF really seems to be exploding this year.

Karen someone said zombies are the new vampire. They certainly seem to be rising to the top so to speak. I have an eARC of this but don't know whether I will be able to get to it not being much of an ebook person. If I do I'll post a review.

  4. Please do post a review, if you get to it. I'd love to hear what you think. I'm a vamp lover from way back, but I like zombies too, and they're not as common, so I'm ready for some good zombie stories.

  5. I love vampires - but I'll be the first to admit that the market is being over run with the critters. I'm looking forward to the zombie fella. :)

"Boneshaker" also looks like a good one. A little different from my usual reads - but I'm game. LOL

  6. The Vampire Files is one of the series that I've had on my need to read list for awhile. I've read at least two short stores with Jack in them and I really liked them! These covers are all really neat :)

  7. Karen I am certainly going to try. Maybe they will send me a hardcopy :)

Michelle I think Nekropolis is going to have a nice noir feel to it. We'll see. Boneshaker is Steampunk and I just love that stuff. For me this is a must buy. Hope you give it a try.

Lady_tink I have to admit I have never read a Jack Fleming story. At least when I start if I like them I have a whole lot of them to read!

  8. This looks amazing! Another book to add to my ever growing TBR list. :)

    ~ Popin

  9. Popin Fresh they're on my list too!

  10. Who could resist that description by Cherie Priest? Not me! Plus I loved her Four and Twenty Blackbirds. Thanks for the heads-up on those great titles!

  11. Hi Darla i am really looking forward to her take on steampunk but what I want to read of hers next is Fathom.

  12. Ack - I hadn't even heard of that one. I'll add it to the list, too - thanks!
