Cover Art – “Tempest Rising” by Nicole Peeler

Nicole Peeler one of the members of the League of Reluctant Adults (interview) has just revealed the cover to her debut urban fantasy book Tempest Rising due out this fall from Orbit Books (article). This one will really stand out from the crowd. Nice.

Jane True is 20-something secret night-swimmer and unintentional social pariah. Living in small town Rockabill, Maine, Jane has always known she didn’t quite fit in with ‘normal’ society. She just didn’t know that her absent mother’s legacy would give her entry into a world that included vampires, goblins and succubae.

  1. What an interesting cover. Not sure what to make of it.

  2. I'm with Katie on this one...I don't know whether to love or loathe...

It's Hot Topic worthy at least, but is that a good thing?

Dammit, now I'm gonna read it just to see if the cover art fits it. Bugger.

  3. I think the cover is super cute, but not for urban fantasy. It might fit a YA book better. But it also brings to mind one of those spiritual guidebooks one might find at a metaphysical shop.

  4. KB this cover really caught my eye. I do like illustrated covers a lot. I always find them distinctive even if in the end they really aren't representative of the contents. Have to wait and see.

Bella my thoughts exactly! It's a short blurb but I have read some interviews with her and the book sounds promising.

JenB I agree its open to a lot of interpretations. Makes us think. Maybe that's what it was intended to do.

  5. Wowee! I really love that cover! Its so different and refreshing.

  6. Bella Lee everyone thinks so it seems. New is good.
