It looks like urban fantasy is going mainstream. The Fox network is developing "Bitches," a dramedy about a quartet of female friends in New York who are werewolves.Yes we have had our vampire shows - Moonstruck, Blood Ties, and True Blood. But werewolves? Anyone willing to take a bet that the title changes before it airs? Suggestions anyone?
Thanks to the ladies over at the Smart Bitches, Trashy Books blog that posted this. You can view the original Hollywood Reporter announcement here.
Wow... I hadn't heard. I could see the werewolf stories getting to the popularity level of the vampire stories -- especially with the interest in the Stephanie Meyers books that include werewolves. Not sure that a "Sex in the City" type show is going to open that door, though.
ReplyDeleteThat could be pretty good or pretty hokey. Guess we'll have to see!
ReplyDeleteTexasRed they say its a 'dramedy' which means they should take the material semi-seriously, let's hope it doesn't devolve into a yuk-fest.
ReplyDeleteDracanea my thoughts exactly. Being network TV it will obvious limitations. Hopefully they will bring some UF sensibility to the project.
