Lilith Saintcrow - "Angry Chicks in Leather"

Lilith Saintcrow has posted a wonderful guest essay on Urban Fantasy over at Pat's Fantasy Hotlist. Pat introduces the essay Angry Chicks in Leather with the following preamble.
When I invited authors to be guest bloggers on the Hotlist, Lilith replied that she would be interested. But she didn't really know what to write about. When I suggested that she could write a piece on urban fantasy being considered lowbrow crap by some, she immediately jumped on the opportunity!

If you are not familiar with her work, I figure that you have guesses that Lilith Saintcrow writes urban fantasy novels. In any event, you know that an article titled Angry Chicks in Leather is going to be good!;-)
Comments are running fast and furious so drop over and see for yourself.

Here is the cover art of the third Jill Kismet book due out August 2009. Found this at Tez Says. Thanks Tez!

  1. Argh. I am fuming right now with the mysogyny and how eveybody (even the ones "defending" UF) just dismiss Romance and Paranormal Romance as trash.

Like, every single non-romantic, male-written Fantasy book is awesome.

    /end of rant.

I loved your comment over there.

  2. Hi Ana, yeah that's one of the reasons why I posted the link hoping some of the regulars here that really appreciate urban fantasy would drop over and weigh in on the issue. Certainly Lilith covered everything I love about the genre. As a couple of people remarked it seems the naysayers actually haven't read any of the UF that Lilith is talking about.

  3. We are preparing a piece about it. ; )

  4. I definitely look forward to that. I have continued to follow the commentary and the ignorance and assumptions made continue to astound me.

  5. I am not sure you are going to like our article though. It is going unexpected places.....*g*

For bloggers comments are like water to a man (or woman) wandering in the desert. A precious commodity. I love to hear from everyone and do my best to respond to every post.
